The main mandate of the department is to coordinate the implementation of the National Investment Policy to fast-track the realization of the National Development Agenda.
Specific tasks of the department include;
- Coordinating the Project Development including the design, Quality Assurance, and approval process working with both (internal and external) stakeholders.
- Identifying priority Projects to be undertaken to achieve national development strategies.
- Coordinating the elaboration of the National Projects program including the development of the pipeline of appraised projects and ensuring synergy between the Project plans at all levels.
- Establishing criteria for appraisal and prioritization including climate consideration of National Projects in the context of limited resources.
- Developing national capacities (central and local) in the Project appraisal process.
