The privatization department has the mandate of overseeing the process of transferring State- owned companies and assets to private ownership.
Department Responsibilities.
- Policy Development: Work with the Ministry’s leadership and key partners to formulate, oversee, and implement policies and strategies related to privatization.
- Legal and Regulatory Framework: Contribute to the development of legal and regulatory framework for privatization to ensure a transparent and efficient privatization process.
- Leading and coordinating the end-to-end privatization process for profit-oriented public investments: This involves;
- Profiling and identifying public investments that must be privatized and modalities of implementation of their privatization.
- Implementing cabinet decisions to privatize State Owned Enterprises/Companies,
- Structuring and leading privatization transactions.
- Leading legal and financial due diligence exercises.
- Coordinating the approval process and overseeing the implementation of privatization agreements together with key partner institutions that include, the Rwanda Development Board, line ministries and state-owned companies.
