RWANDA TO HOST THE 2026 ESAAMLG ANNUAL MEETINGS
The Government of Rwanda, through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN) and the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), in partnership with the Eastern and Southern Africa Anti-Money Laundering Group (ESAAMLG), is pleased to announce that Rwanda will host the 2026 ESAAMLG Annual Meetings. Scheduled to take place from 31st August to 5th September 2026, the meetings will be held under the theme: “From Technical Compliance to Demonstrable Outcome: Strengthening Effective AML/CFT/CPF Systems in Eastern and Southern Africa.” This gathering will serve as a strategic platform to deepen regional collaboration in the fight against money laundering, terrorism financing, proliferation financing, and other related financial crimes.
The week-long programme will feature:
- 52nd Task Force of Senior Officials Meeting;
- 26th Council of Ministers Meeting;
- 9th Public–Private Sector Dialogue (PPSD);
- Technical Working Groups meetings and bilateral engagements;
- Side events involving international partners and stakeholders.
The meetings will bring together senior officials in various categories, including Ministers, Heads of Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) and other senior officials from 22 ESAAMLG member countries; the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Representatives, observers from UK, USA, World Bank, IMF, African Development Bank, COMESA, SADC, other international organizations, development partners and local participants.
Hosting the 2026 ESAAMLG Annual Meetings underscores Rwanda's commitment to financial integrity and regional cooperation while reinforcing its position as a leading MICE destination.
